Olympics is basically defined as an event which composes various games which are played among the countries players. It is a major international multi-sport event that is basically held once after every four years. The Olympic symbol which has 5 circles of different colors represents the various activities of the Olympic movement and it even represents the union of the five continents of the world which involved the meeting of athletes from out the world at the Olympic Games and Olympic village. Olympics 2020 also known as Tokyo 2020 held from 23rd July to 8th Aug, 2021.
There are three types of Olympic games, which involve the summer Olympics, winter Olympics, and the Paralympics. But The first Olympic game was on April 6, 1896. It took place in Athens and 280 participants from various countries took part in it. These participants were from 12 nations who were competing in 43 events. It was the year 1994 when winter and summer Olympic games started happening separately and alternatively every 2 years.

This event took place from July 23 to 8th August in Tokyo, Japan. The total number of teams was 206 with the participation of over 11417 players. The Tokyo 2020 games demonstrated unity and solidarity as the world came together for the first time after pandemic covid-19.

- 2.2 billion USD was saved during the review of the venue master plan.
- 2.1 billion USD was saved from the operational budget through the new norm.
Covid 19 protocol
- 85% of the athletes and their staff staying in the Olympic village vaccinated.
- 70% of the broadcasters also vaccinated.
- The IOC considered the experience of 54,000 athletes who have already competed in more than 430 major sports events and then took the analysis for the development of Tokyo 2020 plans.
India’s performance in Olympic 2020
India performed for the first time in the Olympic games in the 1900 and won 2 medals but both were silvers. In the Olympic 2020, India finished 48 on the medal tally of Tokyo which is the highest rank over the four decades. The previous time India give its best performance by achieving the rank 51 in Beijing in 2008. This time India has shown and very improved performance by getting one gold 2 silver and 4 bronze medals for the country.

Mirabai Chanu is an Indian weightlifter who was born on August 8 1994 Also she won the Silver Medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in the women’s 49 category weightlifting. She got the break in her sports career at the glass co Edison of the Commonwealth Games where she won a silver medal in the 48 kg weight category weight lifting.
