International Nurse Day- Nurses are the person in the hospital who always cures their patients, and she has the same contribution as a doctor; without a nurse, it would be difficult for the doctor to continue his work, which reflects the importance of a nurse.

Nurses in hospitals always better treat their patients, and in order to highlight their significance, a day has been observed as Nurse Day on May 12, 2023. This year, the theme for the day is “Our Nurse, Our Future.

International Nurses Day is celebrated on May 12th each year to celebrate the vital role nurses play in the healthcare system and society at large. It is also the birthday of Florence Nightingale, considered the founder of modern nursing.

History

International Nurse Day 2023

The International Council of Nursing, with more than 130 national nursing associations as members, celebrated the first International Nurse Day in 1965. Each year, different areas of nursing and the healthcare system are addressed under the theme of International Nursing Day. This year, the theme for International Nursing Day 2023 is ‘Our Nurses: Our Future.”

Day is to give thanks to all the nurses for their dedication to this sensible and safe care of public health. Florence Nightingale was born on May 12, 1820, in Florence, Italy, and is known as the foundational philosopher of modern nursing.

She is also famous as a lady with them; she was a British nurse tradition and social reformer who was founded and philosopher of modern nursing during the premium ball put in charge of nursing by British and patient visits in the night round with a lamp in her hand. That’s why she is also known as Lady with a Lamp.

The nursing school was in memory of   first scientifically based school. The Nightingale School of Nursing at Saint Thomas Hospital in London opened in 1860. She was also setting up training like a nurse in a workhouse.

Theme

International Nurse Day 2023 will be celebrated on the theme “Nurse is Future, Global Champion.” This theme will set out what we want for nursing’s future in order to address  global health challenges and improve global health of all We are required to learn from the lessons of the pandemic and translate these actions into the future. The theme for 2022 was “a voice to lead, invest in nursing, and respect the right to secure global health,” while the theme for 2021 was “a voice to lead a vision of future healthcare,” which actually highlights the importance and requirement of nurses and their invaluable contribution along with the doctors.

The theme for 2020 was “Nursing the World to Health,” which actually emphasises the crucial role of nurses in addressing health challenges.

Celebration

In the US and Canada, a whole week is celebrated as National Nursing Day, where people show their human love to nurses by gifting them cards and thank-you notes. Whereas in America, nurse associations support and increase the celebration and work of nurses through various activities like educational seminars, community events, and competition discussions.

Even nurse are honoured and appreciated by the doctors , staff, patient and the others peoples in hospital for remarkable contribution.
