Chaitra Sukladi – Chaitra is the first month of the year according to both the official civil calendar of India and the traditional Hindu calendar.

In the Nepali calendar (the Vikram Samvat), which starts in mid-March, Chaitra or Chait is also the final month.

This month is known as Chet in the Sindhi calendar, and the Cheti Chand festival is held to commemorate it (the birth of Jhulelal, an incarnation of Vishnu).

Vishnu is in charge of this month in the Vaishnava calendar. The start of Chaitra Sukladi is marked by the Sun’s entry into Pisces in solar religious calendars.

In the more conventional calculation, the first month begins in either March or April of the Gregorian calendar, depending on whether the Purushottam Maas (the extra month for alignment of the lunar or solar calendar) was observed in the year.

Along with the end of spring, Chaitra is a Hindu lunar month. Holi, a springtime festival of color, is celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima).

The month of Chaitra is regarded as the first month of the year in accordance with the Hindu calendar. The beginning of spring is primarily felt during the month of Chaitra.

The seventh day is dedicated to the worship of the Sun God, and the ninth day is dedicated to Goddess Durga.

Devotees worshipping all the gods at once on the fifteenth’s final day. For the purpose of the holy thread ceremony, or Upanayana, the month of Chaitra is favorable.

Given that Upanayana is the prerequisite for Brahmin males to begin studying Vedic literature.

However, this month is a sacred time to read the Bhagavad Gita and the Ramayana. There are several rituals that are performed in Chaitra month in addition to the uniqueness of each day.

The Vikram Samvat New Year is celebrated in North India as well using the Shukladi technique. But in this case, a month is reckoned from Purnima to Purnima (full moon).

The name Navreh, which derives from the Sanskrit term “Nava Varsha” (literally, “the New Year”), is used in Kashmir to refer to the new year.

This day is known as Sajibu Cheiraoba in Manipur, where Sajibu denotes the start of the first of the six seasons and Cheiraoba denotes the start of a new year.
