What are Drug trafficking and abuse?

This article will be focused on Drug abuse and trafficking

What are Drug trafficking and abuse?

Drug trafficking is a global illicit commercial activity that involves the cultivation, manufacture and distribution, and sale of substances which prohibits by drug laws, the situation when drug supply happens or drug laws breaks or violence by anyone(traffickers) it can be called drug trafficking and abusing

HOW UNODC (UNITED NATIONS OFFICE OF DRUGS AND CRIME) IS WORKING TO STOP THIS GLOBAL ILLICIT?

UNODC is continuously making efforts and it monitors and studies to understand bitterly the dynamics of drug trafficking and global illicit drug markets. Drug intake and Trafficking is a major issue in youth today because youth is having the pressure of a career, and sometimes due to breaking up, failure in career, and in absence of handling any situation they fall into a trap, sometimes they become pray of depression and start to take drug. Recently a small girl was found selling drugs in the city consciously with the support of her parents. The government also took initiative like various Nasha Mukti Abhiyan has been initiated and also at college and school level various awareness sessions used to keep organizing but there is a need to take some more initiative because drug intaking and trafficking can hollow everything.

Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan these three are the Golden triangle which is known for Afeem and drug circulation. Even Punjab is at the top most in circulation and intaking of drugs.

UNODC also provides or publishes an Annual World drug Report which consists of statistics and every detail about drug trafficking and abuse it studies and contains details about how the consumption of drugs is increasing worldwide, it gives us a broad idea about it

According to 2022 current data heroin consumption has increased to 340 tons worldwide annually, Report of UNODC “Annual drug Report” said that Afghanistan consumed 5 tons of drug annually, and the remaining 375 tons are transported around the world along routes passing through Afghanistan’s neighboring countries

Why Drug abuse and trafficking have been increasing, As we all know if anything or any product is in demand in the market, production, and supply of that particular thing automatically rise we have studied economics it is a basic thing to understand the increment of Production and supply means that thing is in demand in the market so that’s how it increases,

So the first question I  have answered is why Drug trafficking and abuse have been increasing If demands for the product increase the supply of that will rise so you can correlate this thing

Global trafficking of Drugs: Negative impacts

There are many types of drugs which includes cocaine, heroin, and others it does affect a nation because the nation is a group of citizens or people if they are healthy or nonalcoholicalist their progress rate will increase

As we all know how drugs consumption has been increasing day by day Internationally it’s a matter of concern it does affect a lot of people’s health and affect them physically and mentally

It leads to many mental disorders makes them worsen.

  • Centers of drug trafficking

Many studies have come to trace global illicit but it has generally considered that center of drug trafficking in Afghanistan, it’s main Asian country that produces and distributes drugs they provide drugs internationally to traffickers that’s how they become successful in their intentions

They provides and trafficked drugs to central America by the sea that’s how drugs reached South America and Canada and other places in the USA

The main routes include Balkan states and Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and The northern route passes mainly through Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan and also Uzbekistan or Turkmenistan to Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation The annual volume of this market is estimated at 13 billion US dollars

Record from 2007 to 2008 has shown that drug trafficking increased by 712 tons seized from south America it has found in a study by UNODC that Seizures continued to occur mainly in the Americas and Europe

  • How It can be stopped: Effective ways

UNODC has been working hard and making efforts to Stop drug trafficking but it’s time to take effective actions by UNODC, UNODC has been providing data and statistics about drug trafficking details but now the organization should work as an implementor and not as only Provider of Informations.
