Realme 10 Pro Series 5G
Realme is a Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong. On May 4, 2018, former Oppo vice president Li Bingzhong (known as Sky Li) founded it. Realme began as an Oppo sub-brand and eventually became its own brand.
Realme went on to become the fastest-growing 5G smartphone brand in the third quarter of 2021, with an 831% growth rate. While Samsung trails Huawei in global smartphone shipments in the second quarter of 2020, only two of the top ten manufacturers increased sales or market share in the same quarter.
One of these is a well-known budget phone manufacturer you’ve probably never heard of. Apple is the first, coming in at number three. With the release of the iPhone SE, Apple has beaten Android flagship makers at their own game. Meet Apple’s unlikely rival, Realme, for the other brand on the rise. Realme is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer that has been in operation for just over two years.
It is a subsidiary of BBK Electronics Corporation, which has a complicated history of generating manufacturers together with iQOO in addition to the greater famous OnePlus, Oppo, and Vivo. Realme was created in a similar manner to OnePlus, as a separate brand from BBK and Oppo, but with access to Oppo’s intellectual property, economies of scale for purchasing components, and extensive factory lines. While OnePlus was not among the top ten in terms of second-quarter shipments.
Sky Li, the founding father of Realme, is a former Oppo employee. Li oversaw Oppo’s international expansion and, with a proven track record, has kept Realme’s business message unwaveringly consistent: excellent value. Since its inception, its portfolio has grown into a budget banquet of premium features at competitive prices – ideal for brand-agnostic, Covid-era buyers.
Realme, on the other hand, did not launch in its home country of China. The brand was created with the intention of disrupting the highly prized Indian smartphone market, which has over one billion adults. Smartphones and phones in general have played an important role in Indian culture for decades. Their significance as status symbols is likely on par with their utility as communication tools.
Naturally, not everyone, and especially not everyone in India, can afford a £1,000 smartphone. The rise of Realme can also be attributed to a shift in India’s smartphone usage habits. Many Indians do not have access to fixed broadband. To put mobile data into perspective, according to telecoms company Ericsson, the average smartphone user in India consumed 12GB of data per month in 2019 – the highest consumption per head in the world.
This explains why the country’s networks are rapidly upgrading from GPRS to 4G data speeds in many areas, completely replacing 3G.
Review
At the end of the year, Realme increased the number of sets to ten. The Realme 10 Pro and 10 Pro+ were launched as part of the company’s latest 10 series of phones. Realme 10 Pro looks instantly stunning thanks to its flat design that maximizes space. Thanks to the plastic body, the phone is very light and portable. The back of the phone is visually appealing.
The hyperspace variant we were given to test has one model; As your angle changes, the pattern appears to change as well. There are also two rear camera sensors on the back, independent of an aperture. A rectangular metal frame separates the front and back of the power button, which houses a fingerprint reader. The volume buttons are on the right side, while on the left is the hybrid SIM tray that allows the use of a microSD card. There are 3 of them over there.
A 5mm headphone jack (which we thought was a smart move by the company), a USB Type-C port and speaker-out. The overall design is attractive but with a minimal aesthetic and a flat look that we liked. Realme 10 Pro features a 6.7-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The refresh charge of the display is a hundred and twenty Hz.
If the screen is left off for a long time, its frequency drops to 60 Hz. Being an IPS screen, HDR support is not available, but the company has improved the quality of the content with Widevine L1. The colors are bright and vibrant, but the screen lacks the deep blacks that would enhance movie content. The brightness is sufficient for comfortable viewing of the screen. Realme 10 Pro is one of the company’s first smartphones with Android 13 and UI 4.0.
The new UI has a cleaner look and some new features, but nothing special. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G chipset powers the Realme 10 Pro, which has eight cores, two of which are 2.2GHz Kryo-660 Gold cores (Cortex-A78) and the other six are 1.7GHz -Kryo 560 silver cores. The processor is manufactured in TSMC’s 6 nm manufacturing process.
It handles all your activities efficiently, be it multitasking or gaming. The phone has 128GB ROM and 8GB RAM to allow the processor to do tasks quickly. Gaming is smooth as the 120Hz refresh rate allows for a smoother gaming experience. It’s fair to say that the phone is one of the best-performing devices in its price range. The camera of the Realme 10 Pro has improved significantly.
The company has opted for a simple camera setup with just two rear camera sensors: a 108-megapixel main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. Unlike its predecessor, the company has decided to forego ultra-wide-angle and macro lenses. A 16 MP lens with an f/2.5 aperture is used for selfies.
