There are many Ekadashi and Pausha putrada among one of which is significantly known for Putra growth. Ekadashi is a Hindu holy day that falls on the 11th lunar day of the fortnight of the waxing moon in the Hindu month of Pausha from December to January.

This day is also known as Pausha putrada ekadashi to differentiate from other Shravan putrada Ekadashi couples who fast on this day and worship the God Vishnu for a good son. If it talks about some legend, then the Bhavishya Purana reveals the tale of Putrada Ekadashi as told by God Krishna to the king Yudhishthira

The story goes that once there lived a king named Yudhishthira. He was married to Draupadi and had five sons and one daughter. The king was so poor that he could not provide food for his children even though he had a large number of cows and horses.

When they were grown up, one day their father sent them out into the forest to chop wood for him. They went out but did not return. Then their mother went out looking for them but could not find them anywhere in all directions.

She became very worried about her children who were now lost in the forest without any help from anyone else except herself since she was their only parent left alive. The couple as well as their dead ancestors were worried that without someone to offer Shraddha, they would not be at peace and would become lost souls after death.

Unbeknownst to everyone, the king abandoned his kingdom and went to the forest. After trekking through the forest, Suketuman reached an ashram for saints on the shores of Lake Mansarovar in Putrada Ekadashi.

They recommend that the king fast Putrada Ekadashi and have his son. The king gathered himself up and immediately returned to his kingdom. The king received blessings from his son and grew up to be a heroic king.

Tradition and Ritual of Putrada Ekadashi

Women who yearned for a son and fasted and prayed to Vishnu were also couples who worshipped meals for the well-being of their children. Grains, beans, muesli, and certain vegetables and spices were more popular in North India. This day is avoided but given more importance in other states.
