Indian Defense Accounts Service Exam

The Indian Defense Accounts Service [IDAS] is a central government of India group “A” gazetted civil service. It is the government of India’s oldest department. The Ministry of Defense is in charge of cadre control.

 The IDAS officers are in charge of keeping track of all of the Defense Services’ accounts. The officers of the Indian Defense Accounts Service are in charge of the government of India’s largest budget allocation, the defense forces’ budget.

Who all are eligible to sit in the exam?

·   Nationality of a candidate must be either of the following:

·   Citizen of India;

·   Subject of Nepal;

·   Subject of Bhutan;

·   A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, for permanent settlement in India.

A. Migrant from any of the following countries for permanently settling in India: Pakistan;

a. Burma;

b. Sri Lanka;

c. East African countries of Kenya;

d. Uganda;

e. The United Republic of Tanzania;

f.  Zambia;

g. Malawi;

h. Zaire;

i.  Ethiopia;

j.  Vietnam.

·   A Bachelor’s Degree from one of the recognized universities is required of the candidate.

·   Applicants who have taken the certification exam and are awaiting results, as well as those who have not yet taken the qualifying examination, are eligible to take the Preliminary Exam. Including the application for the Main Examination, such candidates must provide proof of passing the said examination.

·   Candidates with government-recognized or equivalent professional and technical qualifications are also eligible to apply.

·   Candidate must have passed their final year of MBBS or any other medical examination but have not yet completed their internship can also take the Main Exam. They must, however, submit proof of passing the final professional medical exam from the relevant university.

·   The candidate should have attained the minimum age 21 years and maximum age 30 years as on 1st of August in the year of examination.

·   The following is a list of age restrictions that can be relaxed:

·   For Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) candidates, up to a maximum of 5 years.

·   For Other Backward Candidates, a maximum of three years may be granted (OBC).

·   For a candidate from the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the maximum period is five years.

·   Personnel from the Defence Services may be sentenced to a maximum of 5 years. Ex-servicemen, including Commissioned officers and ECOs/SSCOs, who have completed at least 5 years of military service and have been released, can serve for up to 5 years.

·   For ECOs/SSCOs who have completed a five-year initial period of military service, the maximum period of assignment is five years.

·   Blind, deaf-mute and orthopedically handicapped people can get up to ten years.

Roles and Responsibility:

·   For the Army, Air Force, Navy, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ordnance Factories, Canteen Stores Department, Border Road Organization, and other allied organizations, provide financial advice, payment, and internal auditing and accounting functions.
