During continuing demonstrations, 3 service chiefs will speak with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today as part of the AGNIPATH initiative

On Tuesday, the 3 service chiefs were likely to meet individually with Pm Narendra Modi to inform them of the Centre’s Agnipath initiative and its plans for implementing it. The gatherings are just being organized despite considerable opposition to the latest army recruiting program in numerous areas. It is understood that perhaps the chiefs will brief the Prime Minister on different areas of the program’s execution. Nevertheless, there seems to be no formal news on the prime minister’s discussions with the service chiefs.

Following the latest army recruiting system being unveiled on June 14, there were violent demonstrations in many sections of the nation. The Agnipath initiative calls for such employment of young people aged 17 and a half to 21 decades old for just 4 decades, also with the option of keeping 25% of them just for another 15 decades.

Days thereafter, the administration raised the highest age restriction for enrollment in 2022 to 23 decades. The ‘Agniveers’ who’ll be hired underneath the current program would be recognized as such. Many party leaders, and also former soldiers, have slammed the system, challenging the recruiters’ four-year term.

The administration had defended the policy, claiming that the “transformative reform” strategy for military services recruiting would provide young people a chance to represent their country.

Following criticisms from certain party leaders of the government’s Agnipath program for military services enrollment, Pm Narendra Modi stated on Monday that several choices “might appear unpleasant initially” but would bring fruits in the following days.

What exactly is the Agnipath plan?
